Environment California's Michelle Kinman will be our guest speaker on May 16, 2012
On Wednesday, May 16, 7pm at the Peace Center, L.A. Greens' guest speaker will be Michelle Kinman, Clean Energy Advocate,
for Environment California & Environment California Research & Policy Center.
She'll talk about the upcoming LA City Council vote on a city-wide plastic bag ban, and the importance of this vote on the statewide effort to make California the first state in the nation to ban plastic bags. Michelle will also speak about solar programs in Los Angeles and Environment California’s vision for the city to ramp up its solar power commitment over the next several years. And, of course, she’ll also share ways that folks can get involved in both of these issues!
Environment California is a statewide, citizen-based environmental advocacy organization that combines independent research, tough-minded advocacy and spirited grassroots action to win concrete solutions for our environment.
Based in Los Angeles, Michelle manages priority campaigns for greater expansion of clean energy in California and a reduced reliance on dirty and unsafe energy resources such as oil, natural gas and nuclear power. Michelle recently co-authored the reports "California's Solar Cities 2012: Leaders in the Race Toward a Clean Energy Future" and "Building a Brighter Future: California’s Progress Toward a Million Solar Roofs."
Please join us, bring a friend to introduce to the Green Party, and some vegetarian snacks or drinks to share!
